| Oh my goodness....I don't know how time goes by so fast...it's been almost a year since I've written anything on my Xanga and except for the regular "Daily Newsletters" I get in my inbox, I've all but forgotten about this site! I graduated college in May...received my B.A. in Psychology Cum Laude from Northwestern College. (I managed to sqeak out a 3.65 GPA at the last minute..lol). Since then, I began working almost full-time as a nanny for a family out in Shorewood (near Minnetonka). The baby's name is Andrew Alegi, and when I started he was only 3 months old. Well, he has grown up..he's now almost 11 months and close to walking...it's insane. I think having a "regular" job makes me realize that time goes by quicker when you're not stressing about finals and studying and things. This summer I went to Missouri for a 4-day weekend trip with my good friends Samantha Skorseth and Shannon Haack. We stayed at God's Mountain camp in St. Joseph, MO. I'm hoping to go back down to St. Louis here in the next month or two...I've stayed in contact with a bunch of quizzers down there and I've been dying to see them! Grad school is still on my mind, but probably not until at least the fall of 2009...I need to save more money and prepare for life ahead before I sink myself into a huge expense like that. Maybe just maybe I can find a job that will help pay for my schooling...but I'm not worried about that right now...the job I have is absolutely amazing. Well...hope that gives all you Xanga readers something to read.....I usually just go on Facebook now... | | |
| Well...months certainly fly by, don't they? It is now the 2nd week of my LAST semester at Northwestern. I don't think this has quite sunk in yet. I don't know if it will until after I graduate and realize I'm not going back to school in the fall. People keep asking me what I'm going to do next year...and then try to come up with suggestions when I tell them I'm not even sure. Well, guess what? I'm barely 19 years old...and just cause I'm graduating college doesn't mean I want to be an adult yet! I suppose there are some things about being done with school that I am happy about...like not having any more homework, tests, or stress of grades. And hey...I've got an early start on beginning to save money...and (only by the grace of God and my beyond-generous parents) I have no debt to my name. But I'm so used to the schedule, and the daily grind of things that I'm not sure what things will be like next year. I have been having this incredible urge to travel...either on a missions trip, or just some sort of "fun" trip with friends. But of course travel means money, which I don't have a lot of. Perhaps I'll settle for a road trip...there are a lot of interesting places here in the beautiful U.S.A. Some places of interest to me: The Smoky Mountains and/or the Appalachians, Nantuckett Island (which my ancestors owned at one point), Pensylvannia/North Carolina (more ancestor stuff...I'm into geneology), maybe going out west again...to Montana or Banff in Canada. Anyway...basically, my life after May is open to many possibilities...which is both exciting and scary. Hope your school is going well.... Lisa P.S. HOW DID I FORGET?!?! My friend Felicia asked me to be her bridesmaid in her September 22nd wedding!!! OH...and I joined Women's Chorale...and I'm loving it! | | |
| Another Christmas...and a wonderful one it was. It all began last night (Christmas Eve)....I worked until 4 o'clock, ringing up last-minute customers in a rush to get their long-put-off final holiday food purchases. When I got home, my parents and my aunt Ruth (who is down here from Thunder Bay for a couple weeks) opened our family gifts. What I got: A new calendar, The Office Season 2 (YAAYY!!), A new green fleece bedsheet, some chocolate truffles (re-gifted from my dad, who received them from a girl in his Sunday school class), a couple new pairs of earrings from my aunt, The Heritage of Lancaster County book set by Beverly Lewis, Cozy white slippers, A Hallmark Ornament....and if there was anything else, I forget!! Oh yes...I bought myself "The Devil Wears Prada" and some Bath & Body Works Coconut Lime Verbena body cream. :) Today we went out to my cousins' house in Greenfield, MN. It's not super far away...just past Maple Grove and Corcoran, in the direction of St. Michael. Most of my whole clan was there..which was great! My cousin Aaron is on a short leave from the Air Force (he's stationed in Pensacola, FL right now)...what an amazing guy. 12 out of the 14 cousins showed up. It was a nice, relaxing time of fellowship and lots of food! I am super full tonight... And during all of this, I hope I did not forget the true reason for Christmas....not commercialism, or gifts, or even family....but Jesus birth. And I hope none of you did, either! Merry Chrismas to all of my friends....and may 2007 be filled with even more of the great things that were accomplished this year! | | |
| Wow, sorry guys, it's been so long since the last time I posted! It is now finals week..one down, 2 tests, a take-home final and a paper to go! But seriously, even though it sounds like a lot, I'm not stressing too bad..just taking it one thing at a time! Life has been going pretty good this past month...I turned 19 on the 5th...and have had a couple small parties with friends..nothing exciting. It's weird to think that in a year I'll be 20...haha. My friend Felicia got engaged last Friday (the 15th)...she's basically my best bud at Northwestern, so I'm super excited for her and her new fiance, Jon! :D They'll be married in Sept. or Oct. next year. (I'd love to be invited, but I won't push the issue...haha). :) As for me, I'm still single....but that's not to say there aren't any prospects. ;) Yes, that was in the plural....I don't have it narrowed down to 1 yet. Lol...wow I sound like I'm 12 again. Anyway...it's definitely weird to see people only a year older than me gettin' hitched so soon! I mean, there's surely a part of me that is like, "hey, it would be amazing to be engaged" but I still feel so super young and immature...and I know there are a lot of skills I should work on before I even think of managing a household on my own! Not to mention I'm still a teenager....teenagers should not be getting married (ok, at least USUALLY). I'm firmly against getting married before you're 20 (at LEAST). I'm looking forward to graduation in May...oh boy that's less than 5 months away, and I'll have my Bachelor's. The freaky thing is that I'll have to be in the "real world" then...looking for a job and deciding whether to go to grad school or just pursue another career. I'd like to get a Master's, but the dilemma is whether it would be useful for me or not....as I would like to be a stay-at-home mom eventually...but that may not happen for quite some time (and I can't just count on that anyway)...so should I go for more school? Most girls my age are only in their FIRST year of college and here I am finishing. It's a strange place for me...I'm stuck between two worlds. Our Christmas pageant was last night, and it went amazingly well. I'd have to say it was the best I've been to at our church so far...and this was my 9th one at our church. I got to sing Breath of Heaven (Mary's Song) with a group of 5 other women...it was amazing. I sang II Soprano (the 2nd highest one) with Anita Hendrickson and Chris Gusek, and then Deb sang I Soprano, and Darelyn and Melanie sang Alto. I'd love to do another piece like that soon!! Well, I really should stop using the avoidance tactic with my studying...gotta hit the books again! Hope you enjoyed my little update! Have the merriest Christmas ever!!!! All my love! | | |
